Days of Culture of Austria in Petrozavodsk will be held for the second time under the initiative of the Austrian Cultural Forum (department of Culture of the Embassy of Austria in Moscow), the Russian-German center of meetings, at support of Petrozavodsk Administration. This year they are devoted to the 300th anniversary of the cities. The capital of Karelia takes the baton of celebratory actions from its northern neighbour, since Days of Austria in Saint Petersburg were finished on October, 16.
On October, 18 at 5 p.m in Pobeda movie theatre solemn opening of the Days of Culture of Austria is held in which the Attache on culture of the Embassy of Austria in Moscow Mr.Gershner with spouse will take part.
In 2003 the program of the Days has become more extensive and diverse, it includes demonstration of seven Austrian films, meetings of Petrozavodsk creative intelligency and students with the Austrian writers and journalists, Futurist video-installation of the artist Elizabeth Shimana, From Danube to Neva. The Austrians in Saint Petersburg photo-exhibition.
MEDIA-CENTER. VYHOD, Karelian State Pedagogical University and National Library of the RK also participate in the events within the framework of the Days of Culture of Austria.
Press conference where the participants and organizers of the Days of Culture, namely the author of videoshow Elizabeth Shimana, the member of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia Yury Konenko, the Deputy Head of self-government of Petrozavodsk Tatyana Anohova, the head of the Russian-German meeting center in Petrozavodsk, and coordinator of the Days of Culture Olga Petrova will be held in administration of the city on October, 17 at 4p.m.
