The English Prince Edward will award the winners of AWARD youth program from Russia, Finland and Estonia during his visit to Karelia

PETROZAVODSK, August 26. /Correspondent of SPB-TASS Sergey Khoroshavin/. During his visit to Karelia the member of the royal Family of the Great Britain Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, will award winners of the international youth program AWARD from Russia, Finland and Estonia with gold, silver and bronze medals. The head of the department of a politics and public relations of the Consulate General the Great Britain in Saint Petersburg Anna Myslova who has arrived to Karelia together with the personal secretary of the Prince Rozmari Hammer to specify the visit schedule has informed the SPB-TASS correspondent about it today. The visit is scheduled in the middle of September.

Prince Edward is the chairman of the international council of the AWARD program aimed on self-improvement of young people. The program is run in 110 countries of the world, and in January of 1992 Karelia became the first Russian region which has joined this movement. Simultaneously with the Prince's visit to Karelia the international tourist camp for active workers of the program from Russia, Finland and Estonia will be held, and winners of the program on the results of the last year will receive their awards.

Within the framework of AWARD program young people set aimes for themselves which they achieve with the assistance of the leader-instructor. Thus, one of the winners of this program in Karelia, the student of Petrozavodsk State University, Maria Kuznetsova in short terms has learned to create and support Internet sites.

During the visit Prince Edward will also meet the officials of the republic, students of Karelian higher educational institutions studying English and will visit one of the children's homes of the republic.
