On November 11-12 Petrozavodsk hosts the Youth Business in the Sphere of Tourism: Northwest of Russia, Countries of Northern Europe and the Baltic States international seminar. The event is organized by the Petrozavodsk Contact Center of the Nordic Council of Ministers in St.-Petersburg and the State Committee of the Republic of Karelia on Youth. The seminar is held within the framework of the Presidency of Sweden in the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2008.
The seminar in Petrozavodsk gathed representatives of federal, regional and local authorities of the Northwest of Russia, consulates general of Finland and Baltics states in St.-Petersburg, representatives business circles working in the sphere of tourism, as well as students majoring in travel industry related fields.
As the State Committee of the RK on Youth Chairman Maxim Mazurovsky notes: «In recent years need of the population for active and healthy holidays, mass sports as a part of a healthy way of life, has increased in Russia and, in particular, in Karelia. Participation in camping trips, hikes, country excursions, tourist meetings and competitions both promotes spiritual and physical development, and teaches self-organization skills. Tourism has a significant place in improvement of the young people's health!»
Main purposes of the action are discussion of prospects of regional tourism development with accent on youth business, development of issues related to marketing of the regional tourist product, as well as innovative ideas on development of tourism, and presentation of educational programs for youth.
Reports of federal agencies of the Russian Federation coordinating activity of the tourist and youth organizations, as well as experience of foreign experts from Denmark, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and representatives of regions of the Northwest of the Russian Federation on various aspects of development of youth travel are presented at the seminar.
