On July 17, Head of the Republic of Karelia Sergey Katanandov in Moscow has taken part in the session of the State Council On Youth Policies in the Russian Federation.
Role of youth at the present stage of the state development was considered at the session, along with measures of supporting young families, issues of employment assistance to young people in the context of the crisis, education and housing.
Making comments on decisions of the State Council, Sergey Katanandov, in particular, has told:
— It has taken awhile to prepare this session of the State Council. The issue of youth policies has been tabled there after multiple repeated discussions in the Government. Within the past twenty years a discussion has been going on in the country whether any special laws on life of young people are necessary? We should do our best to let young people start their life both educated, prepared, and patriotic-spirited.
Discussion at the State Council was very earnest. Of course, the President has sounded the keynote having emphasized importance of this work. Many assignments were given to the governors. The session's result will be further intensification of activity in this area.
Point at issue were the necessity to use more actively the young talent pool, to promote healthy lifestyles, and many other issues of the young people's concern. Of course, in the final analysis, all this is focused on strengthening of the country and improvement of the demographic situation.
As you know, mayoral elections were held in Petrozavodsk recently. One of the primary tasks the townspeople have mentioned was recruiting young people in the authority. The President was talking of the same issues. I hope, that the new mayor of Petrozavodsk will give ear to this advice and forming his team will involve young people to work in the city administration. Government of Karelia also needs juvenation, and we're preparing it. In September we shall revert to subject of the staff renovation and juvenation.
