Construction of the Alpine-skiing center was launched in Yalguba, Prionezhsky region: the first out of four supporters of the elevator was installed there yesterday. It is planned that this year the Alpine-skiing center will start working in the test mode.
Implementation of the construction project of Yalguba sports and tourist Alpine-skiing center is controled by Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen. In order to accelerate construction and coordinate the work Head of the republic has ordered establishing of the interagency task force.
Yalguba will become the largest Alpine-skiing center in Karelia, and the local elevator will be the first chair lift in the republic.
The ample relief of the slope and favourable location of the complex on the coast of Lake Onego, only 15 kilometers from Petrozavodsk, should promote making the center an attraction for the townspeople, citizens of the republic, and tourists.
Besides, the center will offer related services for going in for sports, and for leisure.
Yalguba is expected to host competitions of both republican, and national standing. Young athletes from the Children's and Youth Sports School will become proficient in winter sports there, and schoolchildren will learn to go Alpine skiing, as well.
The project is financed completely by means of investment funds.
Let us add that currently construction and reconstruction of three Alpine-skiing centers in Yalguba, Medvezhiegorsk and Spasskaya Guba take place in the republic. Spasskaya Guba Alpine-Skiing Center opens after reconstruction on Saturday, February 9.
