On May, 15 Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Karelia was a venue for a meeting with representatives of the Arts Promotion Centre of Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu and cultural workers from the city of Oulu. The main purpose of the visit of the Finnish delegation was discussion of prospects for cooperation with Karelia in the sphere of culture.
In the course of the talks the parties have discussed issues concerning organization of the Russian-Finnish Cultural Forum to be held in Oulu in 2014 and in Petrozavodsk in 2015. Artists from Finland have told about projects implemented in the sphere of fine arts, having stated their high opinion of the art of their Karelian colleagues and thanked the Ministry of Culture of the republic for support.
On results of the meeting a decision was made on release of a joint informational leaflet and staging of a seminar devoted to the experience of cooperation supported between Karelia and Northern Finland. Finnish partners also have supported the initiative of the Russian party regarding the necessity to develop cultural and educational exchange programs for children and youth of both countries.
