On results of his trip Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media has shared his impressions of Karelia:

- Speaking of the information situation in the republic, the media market in Karelia is under the same circumstances as in the country as a whole. Considering a number of aspects, Karelia is even in better looks. Subsciption to newspapers and magazines is better on the average than in the country as a whole, and there are many kiosks selling printed media in the republic, which makes the region the fifth-best on this parameter in Russia, although Petrozavodsk looks worse against this background.

Modernization is taking root in mass media. It is good to see that it all happens at the Karelia State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company, as state-run media should form the standards of quality, set an example and be among the leaders in the market. It is also obvious that mass media needs personnel maintenance.

Conversation with students majoring in journalism and political science at Petrozavodsk State University has shown that compared to their colleagues from technical faculties, humanists get behind. If students majoring in mathematics, physics and computer science are involved in projects for productive economy from the very beginning, then many humanists don't have any realistic view of their branch of the trade.

We have also analysed in detail tasks concerning informational promotion of tourist prospects of the republic. There's a lot to be done in this sphere, though the tourist flow to Karelia grows. There is a demand for domestic tourism in the country, therefore, within the scope of this demand it is necessary to show the republic's worth in comparison with other regions, as there are a lot of interesting places in Russia where people would like to go. It is very important to have places providing all the necessary information on Karelia. Therefore, with the Government of the republic we have discussed. In this regard with the Government of the republic we have discussed creation of a website that would present places of interest of the region and would provide and opportunity for online-booking.
