Head of Karelia held a working meeting with a famous pediatrician Igor Grigovich

On June 2nd the Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen held a working meeting with the famous pediatrician Igor Grigovich. The meeting was held on the eve of the Second Medical Forum "Karelian Pearl", which is being opened in Petrozavodsk. The forum is focused on important issues of improving health care.

Igor Grigovich is an Honored Worker of Health Services of the Russian Federation, Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of Russia, Public and Honored Doctor of Karelia, Doctor of Medical Science, Professor, and Chair of Pediatrics and Child Surgery at the Petrozavodsk State University.

On the initiative and with the active personal participation of Igor Grigovich, specialized pediatric surgical service has been created in Karelia. One of his major studies concerns the development of children's urgent surgical conditions diagnostics. It was awarded the bronze medal at the Exhibition of Achievements of the People's Economy and today is used in many clinics in Russia.

In June 2012, on the eve of the Day of the Republic, Igor Grigovich was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of the Republic of Karelia for the contribution to the development of children's healthcare. His long-term scientific, pedagogical and medical activities, a great contribution to the health of children and the training of highly qualified specialists, his dedication to work and active civic position were marked by this high award. In June 2014 Igor Grigovich was awarded the title of Honored Worker of the Higher School of the Russian Federation by the Decree of the President of Russia.

At the meeting Alexander Khudilainen and Igor Grigovich discussed further development of pediatric surgery and healthcare in Karelia.
