St.Petersburg's Governor Visit to the Republic of Karelia
Today the St.Petersburg delegation led by Vladimir Yakovlev, the Governor of St.Petersburg, has visited the Republic of Karelia. The main goal of the visit was signing the protocol of the Agreement on cooperation in economy, research, and social areas between the Administration of St.Petersburg and the Government of the Republic of Karelia for the period of 1999-2000
from February 22, 1999.
The signing of the protocol was done in the presence of the St.Petersburg delegation, members of the RF Government, deputies of the Legislative Assembly, heads of local power bodies, journalists.
Sergey Katanandov, the Head of the Government of the Republic of Karelia, thanked Vladimir Yakovlev
for his understanding and support.
Vladimir Yakovlev highlighted that as a result of an hour discussion, the protocol increased in its volume: 19 pages instead of 16 ones. Just this fact speaks for the significance of the document.
The joint projects that the two regions are ready to cooperate in are as follows:
new deposits development, fur production, assistance in revival of the enterprises ZAO "Svetlana-Onego" and AO "Petrozavodsky Radiozavod", investment attraction for the ferry-boat construction on the route Petrozavodsk-Shala, and others.
