Students got interested in investment policy of the Government of Russia and the Republic of Karelia, and Victor Cherkesov and Sergey Katanandov had to answer a lot of challenging questions.
The students asked Victor Cherkesov of his impression of the situation in the republic.
"I have lived all my life in an adjacent region, and often came here on business trips," V. Cherkesov answered. " There is a great difference between the republic at present and twenty years ago.
What I saw gave me the right to assessment. When the leaders of the republic and my colleagues scheduled the agenda of the working visit, they included in it not just "pure, right" places, but also
the industries that need to be pulled out. The republic lives as the majority of the regions of northwestern part of Russia, but there is a great difference: it doesn't demand special attention, being oriented for its own
resources. In the republic there are base industrial branches that are quite reliable, and also there is a need to create new enterprises.
"The search is going without much of a loss," Victor Cherkesov made a remark. "In the republic one can feel the atmosphere of development, the spirit of construction, and this is a very positive resource."
Answering the question about the potentials of the Republic of Karelia, the Plenipotentionary Representative pointed out that "a lot will depend on the country, of how it will be able to use extremely favorable situation of the beginning of the century."
At the final press-conference for the journalists, Victor Cherkesov again highlighted the fact that
"his business trip was not an inspection". "It is part of the work that goes on daily in the district,"- the Plenipotentionary Representative said. "Everything that has been planned, we fulfilled.
It was a very interesting work."
