The Church of the Intercession constructed on means of businessmen brothers is consecrated in Karelia

PETROZAVODSK, October, 14. /Correspondent of ITAR-TASS Vladimir Zlobin/. The church named in honour of the holiday of Intercession has been opened today in the regional centre of Karelia the village of Priazha. It was consecrated by Manuil, Petrozavodsk and Karelian archbishop.

The temple has been under construction for two years. The means for these purposes at the rate of 2,3 million roubles were allocated with local businessmen, the Zaitsev brothers Alexander and Sergey. "We have received the blessing on this construction from our mother Alina Semenovna, a truly believing person", - the brothers say.

The local administration, local residents and even brothers on belief from Suomi have rendered their great assistance in the construction of church. In this way, the archbishop of Finnish Orthodox Church Iohannes has allocated half-ton of paint on furnishing of the temple, and the group of the Finnish businessmen has presented a bell in weight of 60 kgs.

The Information Center of the European Union has been opened in Petrozavodsk university

PETROZAVODSK, October, 15. /Correspondent of ITAR-TASS Vladimir Zlobin/. The Information Center of the European Union has been opened today in Petrozavodsk State University. It has been created within the framework of the agreement between representatives of the European Commission and this educational institution.

"Our Center has become the tenth in Russia, - the senior lecturer of university, the head of the Karelian branch of Association of the European researches Alexander Yusupov has told the correspondent of ITAR-TASS. - The similar centers already operate in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Saratov, Kaliningrad, and Kazan. Their primary goal is to assist in development of the European researches in the Russian Federation".

According to the Associate Professor, the Petrozavodsk center will have the specialization in the European regional cooperation with participation of the countries of Northern Europe. The basic trends of its activity will be collecting, exchanging and distributing the information on the European Union and the countries included in its structure, and also participating in the development of the inter-regional cooperation in Europe.
