On November 27 on the 423rd kilometer of St.Petersburg-Murmansk highway near Petrozavodsk there passed the large-scale combined exercise of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Emergency and Ministry of Health and Social Development of Karelia on rectification of the consequences of a severe traffic accident.

Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Rashid Nurgaliev, Minister of Emergency of Russia Sergey Shoigu, chief of the department of traffic safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Victor Kiryanov, Prime Minister of Karelia Pavel Chernov and other officials participated in the exercise.

On the legend of the exercise, the driver of Volga under condition of icy condition of the road has lost control of the car and has driven into the oncoming traffic lane, having caused the head-on collision to Ikarus passenger bus. As a result of the accident, doors of the bus were blocked, with passengers were locked inside. Other participants of the traffic accident were two Lada cars and a gasoline tank truck which, trying to avoid the collision, has slid down into a ditch. As a result of the accident, many people were injured, a gas leak and a threat of explosion have occured.

Under developed conditions participants of the exercise have practiced riding to the site of the traffic accident, extraction of victims from the damaged cars, rendering first aid to them and evacuations of seriously wounded patients. For rectification of the consequences of the accident, forces of road patrol service of motor licensing and inspection department, Ministry of Emergency and first aid departments have been involved. The exercise has involved two helicopters which landed on the federal highway by turns. Directly on the site of trafic accident there has been established visual communication with the National control centre in crisis situations of the Ministry of Emergency of Russia.

In total in the exercise there participated 91 people, 25 various vehicles and helicopters.

By the end of the exercise Rashid Nurgaliev and Sergey Shoigu have assessed work of divisions of rescuers, physicians and militia officers. In particular, Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia has told: This is not our first combined trip to the regions. I see, that directions of activities we practice, are notable for great coherence. The main thing is that we have learned to react promptly, and there was not a moment to lose to rescue human life.

Rashid Nurgaliev has noted, that all forces and means of the Ministry of Emergency and Ministry of Internal Affairs at the exercise have shown normal work. Besides, new forms of cooperation to be improved further on roads of the country have been shown in Karelia.

Sergey Shoigu has also highly assessed work of republican rescue services and has promised his support: Karelia is developing, it goes forward. Those stages we have planned here get their specific outlines not only on the paper, but in reality. We have come here not only to lead the exercise, but also to render serious assistance and support to the services working here.
