One of the objects of the 90th anniversary of the republic was construction of the Supreme Court of the republic. The project important for development of judicial system was supported by the President of the country and the Steering committee on preparation for the anniversary of Karelia at the Government of Russia. On May, 31 Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the republic Boris Taratunin have visited the new building.

The new the four-storied building of the Supreme Court located on Kirov street in Petrozavodsk has total area of more than 9,5000 square meters. As the invitees receives the evidence, construction is completed, there goes the furniture arrangement, installation of equipment and preparation for resettlement.

In the new building there are 12 courtrooms, spacious halls for visitors, service and auxiliary premises. Every year in Russia more and more people choose civilized methods of solution of issue and apply to the court to defend their rights, and now Karelia has got all the necessary conditions for it.

Construction was completely financed due to means of the federal budget. Works on the object was performed by the Building Enterprise 1 Joint-Stock Company. Builders have worked qualitatively and the Supreme Court received the most modern and beautiful office building in the republic.

Speaking of importance of the project, Sergey Katanandov has noted: "Formation of the independent judicial system is a basic solution of one of the main issues of the present in Russia. People should have the right to protect their interests in court, and the new building will serve this purpose."

Boris Taratunin has told that work in the new building is planned to begin after July, 15. The resettlement will not affect the course of legal procedures, they will interrupt not for one day.

Appearance of the new building will also solve the problem of place shortage in Petrozavodsk city court, as it will receive premises with are now occupied by the Supreme Court of Karelia. Thus, activity of all judicial system of the republic will improve.
