Assistant to the Head of the Republic of Karelia Marina Nikishina, director of Kizhi Open-Air Museum Elvira Averianova, representatives of ministries of the republic and federal authorities, heads of Medvezhegorsk region and rural settlements have taken part in the meeting.
Opening the meeting, Andrey Nelidov has declared that by now, from the point of view of development of tourism in the republic, potential of the island of Kizhi as of historical and cultural center has not been used in full measure yet. Along with important work on preservation of monuments of architecture it is necessary to pay attention to development of associated infrastructure: supply of electric power on the island, road laying, arrangement of moorings, ensuring the fire safety.
The decision made in 2008 at the level of the government of Russia concerning allocation of 2,2 billion roubles for these purposes from the federal budget should be of great help in infrastructure development on Kizhi. Matters, first of all, concern construction of more than 30 km of road to the island and laying of the transmission line. This year the preparatory stage comes to the end – republic's funds were used to develop and coordinate all the necessary project documentation.
At the meeting Andrey Nelidov has encharged members of the government with a number of tasks. "Our task is to do the utmost to start the works next year," – Head of the republic has emphasized. Implementation of projects will make it possible to arrange trips to Kizhi all-the-year-round and will provide reliable power supply of the island.
