Head of Karelia Andrei Nelidov has held a number of meetings in Moscow concerning implementation of projects coordinated at the working meeting with the President of Russia that had been held a week before.
At the meeting with Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of Russia Vitaly Mutko the agreement was reached on joint development of the project of Spiritual Transformation of the Russian North supported by His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. Mikhail Sokolov, Deputy Head of the Republic of Karelia and Official Representative of the Republic of Karelia at the President of the Russian Federation, Alexander Voronov, Chairman of the State Committee of the RK on Youth, Physical Training, Sports and Tourism, and Andrey Smirnov, director general of The Corporation for Development of the Republic of Karelia Inc., have taken part in the meeting.
The project assumes construction of an ecological village, an ethnovillage, an Orthodox church and a hotel complex in territory of the Kizhi archipelago. All constructions will follow the style of traditional wooden architecture in order to keep the general historical and natural landscape of the vicinities of Kizhi open-air museum.
Implementation of the project will be carried out within the framework of the federal program of development of domestic and inbound tourism recently approved by the Government of Russia. Joint development of the draft concept will take a month, then in the beginning of September Vitaly Mutko and Andrei Nelidov will again meet in Moscow for further discussion of this issue.
Head of Karelia has also agreed with Vitaly Mutko about inclusion of the republic in the federal program of development of football in Russia. Next year Karelia will receive two artificial turf fields for Petrozavodsk and Kem.
Besides, a decision was made at the meeting to include construction of a roofed rink on the bank the Neglinka River in Petrozavodsk and an open skating track near it in the federal target program of development of physical culture and sports trough 2012. Financing of construction of a skiing and biathlon complex in Kostomuksha is also included in the federal program for the next year. Vitaly Mutko has also given approval to assignment of federal co-financing for implementation of the project of the United Russia party concerning construction of the swimming pool in the university campus in the capital of Karelia.
Projects approved by the President of Russia were also discussed at the meetings with Minister of Culture of Russia Alexander Avdeev and Deputy Minister of Regional Development of Russia Yuri Osintsev held within the scope of the working trip of the Head of Karelia. The parties have reached agreements on support and cooperation.
