Visit of the delegation of led by Head of the republic Alexander Khudilainen to Finland continues. The main purpose of the visit is further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Finland and Karelia.
Rector of the Petrozavodsk State University Anatoly Voronin has commented upon the first results achieved by the official delegation:
"I took part in the meeting with business circles of Finland attednded by many Finnish representatives. I should mention that Head of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen spoke at this meeting about the new investment policy of the region, and establishing favourable conditions for investments in the republic. It is especially important, that now every investment project will have a
responsible employee from among executive officials of the republic to support the project to accelerate its implementation.
"The Finnish partners have made offers at the meeting on implementation of joint projects, and at once agreed about further negotiations with representatives of the Government of Karelia.
"In personal conversations Finnish entrepreneurs also shown keen interest in cooperation and development of partnership with our republic.
"I personally had 15 meetings in Finland during which the tasks related to innovative activity, education, promotion of the Finnish and Russian technologies were discussed.
"Of course, the most significant event within the scope of the visit of the delegation of Karelia to Finland was the meeting of the President of the country with Head of the Republic of Karelia. It has indicated that the authorities of Finland are interested in cooperation with Karelia. I know that the most important issues concerning creation of a transport infrastructure, investment prospests of Karelia were discussed at this meeting.
"Alexander Khudilainen has decided on the right trend in mutual relations with the neighbour, and his meeting with the President of Finland will become a turning point in development of relations with this country."
